What Happens During Passive Tooth Whitening?

    This system involves wearing a custom-fitted appliance containing tooth whitening solution. You must replenish the tooth whitening solution periodically throughout the day, and you must wear the appliance for a number of days or weeks as prescribed by your dentist. Note: When undergoing the passive tooth whitening program you must return to the office for periodic monitoring appointments. This is to ensure that the whitening system is working effectively and that the teeth and gums remain healthy.

    Your dentist may also give you a special tooth whitening gel or toothpaste to use in combination with the solution you place in the custom tray. Regardless of which tooth whitening option you choose with your dentist, you must be especially careful to follow all directions carefully and to return to the office for routine professional maintenance.
